Megawatts do not equal acres.

A dense liquid hall can shrink the building and still need a substation, a generator yard, a stormwater pond, and a fence the neighbors can live with.

  • Stream’s San Antonio III campus was announced at 135 acres for 200 MW IT — about 0.7 acres per MW at full build, including the yard.
  • A 5 MW hall can still need several acres once you count gray space, generators, and setbacks.
  • Residential buffers of a few hundred feet change the drawing more than a clever rack layout.
  • Future expansion pads are why a site looks empty on opening day.
